I have very much enjoyed IBCoM and the teachings still linger in my mind.
Sam Tol
Benelux Market Manager HotelsCombined in Sydney, Australia. Class of 2009 (Graduated in 2012)

What was important in making up your mind?
The prospect of personal growth and development. In hindsight, I reckon I made my choice by comparing the different options, by outweighing the benefits, and by listening to my curious mind who wondered what it would be like to live on the other side of the world for an indefinite time.

What made you decide to choose for this option?
On a work experience level I had figured that this would have been a good exposure to an industry I had studied in university. On a personal level, I knew it allowed me to live and work in Sydney, Australia for an indefinite time.

How would you describe the connection between IBCoM and what you are doing now?
Regarding work, it has given me the most solid and complete background of my job I could possible think of. Core media & communication subjects in IBCoM have given me a perspective into understanding the field I work in: e.g. the way it’s moving forward, the position it takes up in the general media landscape and so forth. On a “skill” level, it has taught me how to research and how to execute plans structurally and effectively.

How would you describe your current programme/job/situation?
The internet is such an interesting, dynamic and fast-paced industry and my job allows me to follow this rapid development at the rate. This job exposes me to other interesting aspects of the internet such as business to business and business to consumer elements.

In hindsight, what would you have liked to have known before, what you know now?
In hindsight, I wish I had known more about the world, especially world politics, philosophy and the like. I can’t help but wonder how my essays would have looked like with the interests I have now, and what direction I would have taken them in.

What kind of job would you be interested in after this?
I would like to contribute to the world by pursuing social entrepreneurship, research or the arts.

Any other points you would like to add?
I have very much enjoyed IBCoM and the teachings still linger in my mind. I hope they will never leave! It is a broad, yet specific course; and I can guarantee that anyone who is keen for knowledge would enjoy and benefit from it. I would like to thank the university, faculty and staff who have made this course possible and have given me a fine university experience!
