By providing education and doing research Erasmus University has a substantial role in society. Nevertheless Erasmus University finds it important to show her societal involvement in other ways as well. We do this is for example trough corporate social responsibility.
Side positions refer to activities that you undertake in addition to your regular job, but which ensue from your position in the university. Erasmus University values it if you have side positions as this is proof of your involvement in society and it promotes vital networking for Erasmus University.
However, transparency of side positions is a must. Therefore you need the permission of the head of your organisational unit and you will be required to maintain an overview of your work in a public register, within the meaning of the Code of Conduct in the Pursuit of Scholarship of the Association of Universities in the Netherlands (VSNU).
Erasmus University stimulates her employees to come to work by public transport or by bicycle as much as possible. As well as for yourself as for the environment this has advantages: less pollution and less traffic jams.
Employees have the option of receiving a maximum reimbursement of € 350,-- once every 5 years towards purchasing a bicycle, E-bike or E-scooter. Commuting expenses are maintained even if employees use their bike to go to work.
Erasmus University is also well accessible by public transport. In the direct environment of campus Woudestein there are a metro station, a bus station, three tram stops and two bus stops. From here fast connections are possible to the train stations Rotterdam Central, Rotterdam Blaak and Rotterdam Alexander.
