Bicycle theft can be a problem in the Netherlands, especially in the large cities. Make sure you have a good lock and lock your bike to something immovable. It is not unusual in the Netherlands and even recommended to insure your bicycle.
In the large cities you will find secure parking places for bicycles where you can leave your bikes safely for a small fee, ask at the nearest VVV (tourist information office) for the locations.
