In accelerated procedures, applications for an MVV and/or VVR are processed by the IND in an accelerated manner. The processing time varies from two to four weeks.
The accelerated procedure can be divided into the following categories:
- Highly skilled migrants: the highly skilled migrant scheme is a procedure for employees who earn a certain minimum income (which is annually defined by the IND). However most academic staff fall automatically under the highly skilled migrant procedure. Moreover no work permit is required. The application procedures (both MVV and VVR) are submitted via EUR. In this case too EUR is required to report the fact if the individual leaves EUR earlier than planned;
- Scientific researcher falling under EC directive 2016/801: this directive is applicable to scientific staff who spend more than fifty percent of their work time with research. The scientific researcher must be in possession of a certificate that will give him/her access to doctoral programmes. The application procedures (both MVV and VVR) are submitted via EUR. In this case too EUR is required to report the fact if the individual leaves EUR earlier than planned;
- Labour migrants: EUR is party to a covenant. EUR applies for the MVV, which includes a signed guarantor’s declaration. Therefore EUR is required to report the fact if the individual leaves EUR earlier than planned. If applicable an application for a work permit has to submit at the same time.
The applications that fall under the accelerated procedures are always processed by the IND-desk for labour and highly skilled migrants in Rotterdam.
