Student life

At Erasmus University Rotterdam there is an almost endless list of sports, social, study, political, and cultural clubs from which to choose. All programmes have their own student organisation that organises academic and social events. So after a long day in the university library, there is always some event or hang-out where you can meet other students.

Sports

In the Netherlands, sports are generally separate from higher education, but tons of students are involved. Our on-campus sports centre offers fitness, dance, spinning, squash, and tennis among many other classes. Members of more than 30 sports clubs – for example water-polo and football – participate in intramural and competition-level athletics.

Orientation programmes

Moving to a new country can be a challenge. To help you settle we organise several activities to get your year off to a good start. At the beginning of the academic year we offer a pick-up service from Schiphol airport, a buddy programme, and a “One Stop Shop” to help you with your Dutch health insurance, bank account, and city hall registration. Our Intensive Dutch Language Course will provide you with the basics of the Dutch language. During the ESN Introduction Days and the Eurekaweek you can get a taste of Dutch culture, the city of Rotterdam and its nightlife.
