If you are admitted, you are exempted from the research traineeship and exchange, resulting in an abridged version of the programme of approximately one year.

English language requirements

All teaching is carried out in English. Therefore, if your first language is not English or if the language of instruction of your most previous degree is not English, we ask you to provide evidence of your command of English.

You should include your test scores, if available, in the relevant section of the application form. If you receive an offer of admission, it will be subject to proof of your score. English tests must be less than two years old at the time of application. If you have not yet taken the test, your application can be considered in its absence, but any offer will be conditional on your achieving the required score.

To be admitted, you must satisfy the following requirements:

  • TOEFL (Test of English as a Foreign Language) with a minimum overall score of
    • 100 in the internet based test,
    • 250 in the computer-based test or
    • 600 in the paper test.
  • IELTS (International English Language Testing System) with a minimum score of 7.0 ()
  • CAE (Cambridge Certificate in Advanced English): grade B
  • CPE (Cambridge Certificate of Proficiency in English): grade A or B

If you have not yet taken any English test, we recommend that you take the IELTS or TOEFL.

Test results of the ITP/TOEFL (Institutional Testing Program) offered by the Language & Training Centre of the Erasmus University Rotterdam are also accepted for this programme. The minimum score that is required is 600.

Test results of the First Certificate in English (FCE) and the TOEIC-test are not accepted.
