Our alumni start their careers soon after graduating. Often they are offered a job even before their graduation has taken place. An annual questionnaire held among graduated economists revealed that Rotterdam economists find a job within 3 months after graduating. The basis for finding a job lies in choosing the right courses throughout your studies. But whatever you choose, Rotterdam’s economist prove to be widely employable.
Although the afore-mentioned list includes multiplicity of positions and sectors, our economists can be found primarily in the following sectors:
- Accountancy, administrative offices, tax advisors
- Economic research / consultancy firms
- Government institutions
- Economic research and advisory agencies
The international bachelor Economics and Business Economics (IBEB) has proved its value by educating students that ended up in leading positions in various organizations. IBEB alumni are not only working in specifically economic positions, but can also be found doing more general jobs on an academic level, for example as a stock analyst, entrepreneur, financial advisor, marketing manager, sales manager, lecturer, policy maker, human resource manager, scientist, politician or organizational advisor.
Alumni Econometrics / BSc²
The demand for econometrists is booming and earnings among alumni are good. Recently, a research was conducted about the relative market value of certain studies; this is influenced by the duration of unemployment after graduating and the height of the salaries offered. Econometrics comes in second, after dentistry, when looking at net salary after one and a half years. Moreover, studying econometrics offers you a very good chance on getting a job soon after graduating, often you can choose from multiple jobs. Alumni end up at multinational companies, financial services or in logistics. The Nederlandsche Bank (the Dutch bank), ministries or the Netherlands Institute for Social Research are also common employers for econometrics alumni. Being an econometrics alumnus thus grants you a privileged position on the labour market. This is also noticeable in the number of internships available; there are more places available than there are students.
