Lei Yang is a PhD candidate in the Department of Media & Communication at the Erasmus School of History, Culture and Communication at Erasmus University Rotterdam.

Her supervisor is Prof. Jeroen Jansz. Prior to coming to Europe, Lei studied Journalism at Liaoning University (Shenyang, China) from 2008 to 2015. She obtained her bachelor degree in July 2012 and her research master degree in June 2015.

During her master studies, she took part in several research projects, including Study of the Influence of Mainstream Media in Liaoning Province, Management and Development Studies in integration of three networks of Liaoning Province. Furthermore, she has published Chinese papers in Chinese journals. She also worked as a part-time teacher at Yilin Art Training Center in Shenyang. In December 2013, she wrote articles for Perfect Time Magazine (Shenyang, China). In 2010, she did her journalism internship conducting interviews and writing reports in Newspaper for the Aged, Liaoning Province.

Her main research interests include communication between Europe and China, children in media, new media and health communication issues especially among minority populations in China.
