Excursion to customs office "Maasvlakte II" and APM Terminals

On Wednesday November 8th, 2017 the participants of the Post-Master in EU Customs Law 2017, along with the students of the master course Capita Selecta EU Customs Law, visited the customs office "Maasvlakte II" and APM Terminals.

In the early morning the bus left the premises of the EUR. Upon arrival at the Customs office Maasvlakte II, customs officials gave an interesting presentation about the activities of the customs offices in the port of Rotterdam and, in particular, their activities at Maasvlakte II. The participants/students also enjoyed a guided tour to the Customs' container scans and terminal at Maasvlakte II. After that insightful visit, the participants/students were treated to a fantastic Terminal Tour at the premises of APM Terminals. 

EFS, Erasmus University Rotterdam is a partnership between the tax departments of the Erasmus University Rotterdam’s Schools of Law and Economics. As well as regularly hosting academic symposia, conferences and lectures, EFS offers a wide range of post-master programmes. EFS is the only institute to offer a post-master in EU customs law (PMC) in English. The edition of 2017 attracted a maximum of 25 participants from more than 10 countries working in consultancy, legal practice, the academic world, the judiciary or for tax or customs authorities.

The master course Capita Selecta (Dutch) is part of the curriculum of the master's programme in Tax Law of the ESL. The students are at liberty to follow one of the six free-choice subjects within the master course Capita Selecta. EU Customs Law is one of these subjects and offers students detailed and up-to-date knowledge on general issues within EU customs law.
