    In 2014 Jeroen Temperman was awarded a Fulbright scholarship in the category of university scholar, facilitating a position as visiting scholar at Washington College of Law, American University, Washington D.C.

    In 2016, he co-founded, together with colleagues from several Erasmus University faculties, of the Erasmus Institute for Public Knowledge (EIPK), facilitated by a Research Excellence Initiative grant.

Toekenning van de subsidie-aanvraag voor het onderzoeksvoorstel ‘Juridical and context-aware Sharing of information for ensuring compliance (JUST)’. Het voorstel kreeg de eindkwalificatie “zeer goed”. De aanvraag was in het kader van de subsidieronde van Innovation in Supply Chain Compliance and Border Management (ISCOM).

Specifiek betekent dit dat de NWO een plaats financiert voor een promovendus die onderzoek gaat doen naar “Juridical implications of information gathering, storing and sharing by carriers (ESL): Focus on Documents”. Deze PhD aan Erasmus School of Law gaat nauw samenwerken met een PhD van de TU Delft op het terrein van de informatietechnologie.

Het onderzoek richt zich op de juridische aspecten en informatiedeling voor het verbeteren van compliance (voldoen aan regelgeving). Overheid en samenleving wensen veilige transportstromen, maar niet tegen hoge kosten. Vervoerders rapporteren veel informatie aan de douane en verzekeren daarnaast op allerlei manieren de veiligheid van deze stromen. De douane zou deze informatie van vervoerders in haar eigen risicoanalyses willen betrekken, maar onduidelijk is of een dergelijke informatiedeling juridisch wel is toegestaan en op welke manier de informatie gedeeld kan worden. Dit onderzoek richt zich op de mogelijkheden om deze data te delen vanuit juridisch en informatie-deling perspectief. Dit zou tot betere compliance moeten leiden.
