Mary Ann Curran

Dr. Mary Ann Curran holds a PhD (2008) from Erasmus University for her research on “Life Cycle Assessment Methodology: A Focus on Co-Product Allocation.”

She has a Master of Science degree in Environmental Management and Policy from the International Institute for Industrial Environmental Economics (IIIEE) at Lund University, Lund, Sweden (1996) and a Bachelor of Science degree in Chemical Engineering, from the University of Cincinnati, Cincinnati, Ohio (1980).

Mary Ann, a native of Cincinnati, has worked at the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency since 1980. As an internationally-recognized expert in LCA, Mary Ann manages the EPA’s Life Cycle Assessment (LCA) research program. She works closely with groups that aim to advance LCA awareness worldwide, including the Society of Environmental Toxicology and Chemistry (SETAC), the EC’s Platform for LCA, and the joint UNEP/SETAC Life Cycle Initiative. In addition, Mary Ann serves as subject editor, Cleaner Production Tools, for the Journal of Cleaner Production, and is on the editorial review boards of the International Journal of Life Cycle Assessment, Environmental Progress, and Management of Environmental Quality.
