My research provides developmental, methodological and social-cognitive perspectives on the group process of bullying. To get more insight in the bullying process, I use research paradigms that are innovative within my field (e.g., daily diary assessments, implicit measures, and several advanced longitudinal data-analysis techniques).
I have conducted multiple studies that examined status characteristics and precursors of adolescents’ involvement in the well-known bullying and victimization participant roles: bully, victim, assistant, reinforcer, defender, and outsider. I am also interested in the development of peer victimization and how this development is influenced by child and context characteristics.
