Master of Laws (LL.M.) in Commercial Law
Commercial law, company law, international mergers, the legal aspects of shipping and the transportation of goods: in this LL.M. you will study the legal aspects of doing business in an international setting.
This programme focuses on developments and practical problems from a comparative law perspective. It provides you with the facts on intellectual-property, security and ownership rights. Learn how risks are shared, and about the key role of title documents such as bills of lading.
Get the tools to do business internationally! Participate in company visits to see how things work in practice. Rotterdam, Europe’s main port and the third largest in the world, is an important commercial centre and one of the largest logistical hubs of the world. As a result it is the perfect location to study commercial law.
Why study a Master in Commercial Law in Rotterdam?
This LL.M. offers you a comparative law perspective with particular attention to differences in approach and outcome between civil and common law jurisdictions. In addition to learning through lectures and assignments, company visits and workshops are organised in the city and in the wider port area, to allow you to experience commercial, corporate and maritime practice.
Get prepared for a successful international legal career after completing this LL.M. Our graduates work as attorney-at-law, are active in litigation, arbitration, transactions and contract-drafting or as in-house legal counsel. Others work as claims handler in the insurance industry, in consultancy positions for government agencies and port authorities, and as PhD-researchers.
The programme is aimed at establishing the relevant standards for each subject in the international arena based on uniform law, standard contracts and comparative law.
