Code of Conduct for Scientific Practice
The European Code of Conduct for Research Integrity of ALLEA
The new, revised European Code of Conduct for Research Integrity of ALLEA (Academies of Science and Humanities in Europe) can be found here. As stated in the preamble of this code, its primary purpose is to help realise the responsibility of the research community to formulate the principles of research, to define the criteria for proper research behaviour, to maximise the quality and robustness of research, and to respond adequately to threats to, or violations of, research integrity.
The code is to serve the research community as a framework for self-regulation. It describes professional, legal and ethical responsibilities, and acknowledges the importance of the institutional settings in which research is organised.
The Netherlands Code of Conduct for Academic Practice
The Netherlands Code of Conduct for Academic Practice elaborates the principles of good scientific teaching and research, which are also recognised by the EUR and apply as guidelines for the university.
The VSNU has various codes of conduct which apply to education, research and business operations. They have been drawn up partly by the VSNU itself, and the universities have committed themselves to comply with these codes.
