MOOC: Planning for Climate Change in African Cities
We're happy to announce our first Massive Online Open Course (MOOC) - Planning for Climate Change in African Cities! The MOOC has been developed by IHS in collaboration with African Local Governments Academy (ALGA), United Cities and Local Governments of Africa (UCLG) and Erasmus University Rotterdam. The course is available free of charge on Coursera.org.
The MOOC provides a foundation for understanding African cities’ exposure and sensitivity to climate change and how cities can best manage these impacts in the face of growing uncertainty. The course encourages participants to apply their knowledge and practice their decision making skills in a simulated exercise/simulated exercises which will broaden the discussion on planning for climate change.
Planning for Climate Change in African Cities features lecturers from esteemed universities from all over the world including Makerere University, University of Leeds, Erasmus University Rotterdam, University of Twente and Ardhi University as well as experts from UN-Habitat and the International Institute of Environment and Development (IIED).
The MOOC is a 5-week online course and is available for free on Coursera. A certificate can be acquired for a small fee, once the course has been completed.
