ISS hosts Global Partnership Initiative 2 Country Engagement Kick-Off Workshop

ISS hosts Global Partnership Initiative 2 Country Engagement

On 12-13 April, the Task Team on CSO Development Effectiveness and Enabling Environment (Task Team) organized a Kick-off workshop with four country level researchers from Sudan, Myanmar, Kenya and Uganda.

The researchers will support the Task Team in the process towards an initial design of (possible) country level engagement, with the aim of awareness raising and capacity building to support multi-stakeholder initiatives (MSIs).

This work is part of Global Partnership Initiative 2 (GPI-2), a voluntary initiative of the Task Team and is affiliated with global efforts to advance aid and development cooperation effectiveness under the auspices of the Global Partnership for Effective Development Cooperation (GPEDC).

Taking part in the workshop were (from left to right in the picture):

  • Sanne Huesken (Task Team Secretariat)
  • Alexander Jaggard (Mekong Economics, Myanmar)
  • Hameed Elias Suliman Abuhis (DSRI, University of Khartoum, Sudan)
  • Professor Winnie Mitullah (University of Nairobi, Kenya)
  • Muyiiya Emmanuel Musoke (independent consultant, Uganda)
  • Jacqueline Wood (consultant, Task Team Secretariat)
  • David Wubs-Mrozewicz (Task Team Secretariat Manager)
  • Professor Inge Hutter (ISS Rector)
  • Adinda Ceelen (Task Team Secretariat)

Follow-up

The researchers will now gather information and ideas from country-level actors to assess both the interest and demand for Task Team engagement at the country level. In doing so the researchers will engage with a variety of stakeholders, including Task Team participant representatives or country-level affiliates.

During a next meeting in November 2017, the Task Team will decide upon possible engagement for the Task Team at country level.

About the Task Team

The Task Team is an informal, multi-stakeholder network of representatives from the official donor, partner country and CSO communities. The work of the Task Team is concerned with advancing the role of civil society organizations (CSOs) in development.

It is co-chaired by representatives from the Uganda National Bureau for NGOs, the Government of the Netherlands, and the CSO Partnership for Development Effectiveness (CPDE).

The Task Team’s Secretariat is located at ISS. The four-member Secretariat is comprised of the Secretariat Manager (David Wubs-Mrozewicz), Senior Policy Advisor (Jacqueline Wood), Policy and Communications Officer (Adinda Ceelen) and Event Coordinator (Sanne Huesken).
