PhD graduate Natalia Mamonova wins Erasmus Graduate School best article award
Every year the Graduate School invites its PhD candidates and recent graduates to submit their work for the 'Graduate School Award for PhD Excellence'.
The 2016 award for best article was won by recent PhD graduate Natalia Mamonova for her article 'Naive Monarchism and Rural Resistance in Contemporary Russia' published in Rural Sociology, 81(3), 316–342.
The article was considered an insightful combination of history, political science and sociology; the jury said it was very enlightening for present events and for understanding current day populism. The specific case concerned the way Russian peasants perceive and support Putin’s through a form of naïve monarchism.
Natalia Mamonova also won the award in the same category last year.
