New: Item Level Usage metrics in Web of Science
Web of Science introduces ‘Item Level Usage Metrics’. This usage count is “a measure of the level of interest in a specific item on the Web of Science platform”. This interest is measured by the number of clicks on the full-text links or by saving the article in a bibliographic management tool.
Two Usage Counts are available within Web of Science:
- Last 180 days – This is the count of the number of times the full text of a record has been accessed or a record has been saved in the last 180 days. This count can move up or down as the end date of the fixed period advances.
- Since 2013 - This is the count of the number of times the full text of a record has been accessed or a record has been saved since February 1, 2013. This count can increase or remain static over time.
You can sort the results list by 'Usage count – Last 180 days' or 'Usage count – Since 2013'. The usage count of a particular item is shown in the results list, but you have to click the link to see the numbers, and on the full record page.
