Current facets (Pre-Master)
2nd High Level Meeting of the Global Partnership for Effective Development Cooperation
On 28 November – 1 December, the Second High-Level Meeting (HLM2) of the Global Partnership for Effective Development Cooperation (GPEDC) will take place in Nairobi, Kenya.
The Task Team on CSO Development Effectiveness and Enabling Environment (Task Team) is engaged in multiple events on the programme.
Following preparatory forums for, amongs others, civil society, women and youth and parliamentarians on 28 and 29 November, the high level segment will take place on 30 November and 1 December. The meeting offers a platform for heads of state, ministers, heads of major international organizations and leaders from various stakeholder groups to meet. It is expected to be attended by 2500 delegates.
Task Team involvement
The Task Team is engaged in four events, including three that are part of the high-level segment:
- Preparatory Monitoring Workshop 'Monitoring effective development co-operation: what have we achieved; how can we do better?' - session V on 'Promoting inclusive development partnerships'.
- Plenary session 'From global goals to action: unleashing the power of partnerships'.
- Amphitheatre session (related to plenary session above) 'Enabling environment for partnerships'.
- Side-event 'Enabling environments for CSO engagement in development: lessons from the GPEDC 2015/16 monitoring for Agenda 2030 implementation'.
Amongst the high-level speakers in these events are Minister Ploumen (Netherlands Minister for Foreign Trade and Development Cooperation), Minister Lövin (Swedish Minister for International Development Cooperation/Deputy Prime Minister), Dr. Alam (Senior Secretary/Senior Vice-Minister, General Economic Division, Planning Commission, Bangladesh) and Douglas Rutzen (President-CEO of the International Center for Not-for-Profit Law).
The Task Team has also produced a number of products targeting HLM2, including Key Messages, Stock-take Report of Indicator Two Monitoring, Development of Guidance for Indicator Two: An Invitation to Engage, and a Policy Summary on Multi-stakeholder Initiatives. The Policy Summary is based on a study by Dr. Kees Biekart and Prof. Alan Fowler of the ISS.
