Profile
Elena Alina Ontanu is an Assistant professor of Private International Law and collaborates with the Legal Informatics and Justice Systems Research Institute, National Research Council of Italy. Before moving to academia, she worked as a financial law lawyer in Romania. Alina wrote her doctoral thesis on European uniform procedures at Erasmus School of Law and obtained her LL.M in 2008 in International, Comparative, and European Law (Master 2, University Toulouse 1 Capitole).
Alina graduated in 2007 in Romanian law (University of Bucharest Law School), in French and European law (Maîtrise and Master 1, University of Paris I Panthéon-Sorbonne), and in management of public administrations (Academy of Economic Studies Bucharest).
Alina has contributed to various international research projects in the area of private international law and digitisation. She often works on multidisciplinary projects, conducting comparative and empirical research. Her research interests focus law and technology developments, digitalisation and private international law, techno-legal platforms, data ownership and AI accountability, dispute resolution in a transnational context, and quality of justice.
