Anne Siebert is a PhD Candidate in Development Studies at the International Institute of Social Studies (ISS), The Netherlands, and at the Institute of Development Research and Development Policy (IEE), Ruhr-University Bochum (RUB), Germany. Her research interests and expertise include global water and food policies, their local implementation and impacts, food sovereignty movements, and sustainable transformation of cities. In her PhD project, she focuses on urban farming initiatives and the way they shape food sovereignty in Ghana and South Africa. Her supervisors are Jun Borras (ISS) and Pierre Thielbörger (RUB).
She gained extensive teaching experiences in social sciences and research methodology (quantitative and qualitative) at the IEE and the University of the Western Cape, South Africa. Anne was responsible for project evaluations in Uganda and Indonesia and for the coordination of MSc Programs in Economics with Afghan Universities at the IEE.
