Profile
Balázs Boross is lecturer and PhD Candidate at the Arts and Culture Department of Erasmus University Rotterdam. His NWO funded project 'Television culture in the age of participation: (re)making media rituals' investigates how 'ordinary' people experience their participation in reality TV productions, how the participation of cast members is streamlined by production workers, and how these experiences and strategies are linked to questions of visibility, identity politics and power in the new media age. Articles resulting from this project have been published in European Journal of Cultural Studies, Television and New Media and Media Culture & Society. Balazs teaches among others History of Western Arts and Culture, Academic Skills, Audience Studies and supervises MA and BA students with media related projects.
