Christian Herzog is a lecturer at the Department of Media & Communication at Erasmus University Rotterdam. He holds a PhD in media political economy and communications policy from Loughborough University, UK. From 2012 to 2016 Christian has been a Postdoctoral Research Associate, later Fellow, at the Centre for Digital Cultures at Leuphana University Lüneburg. In 2015 he has been a visiting scholar at the University of Westminster. Beforehand, he has been a research assistant in the projects 'PSB Digital' (HBI, University of Hamburg) and 'Marconi and our time' (McGill).

Christian's research is concerned with media policy, media systems, media and politics as well as public service media in comparative perspective. It has been published in in European Journal of Communication, International Journal of Cultural Policy and International Journal of Media & Cultural Politics.

Christian has edited and authored the books Transparency and Funding of Public Service Media (Springer VS, 2018) and Towards a Market in Broadcasting: Communications Policy in the UK and Germany (Palgrave, 2012).
