Dala Duo (Staglha) is a Ph.D. Researcher at International Institute of Social Studies (ISS), Erasmus University Rotterdam.
He has an MA in Development Studies from Heller School for Social Policy and Management, Brandeis University in the USA. Dala’s research interests include social policy, aging, elderly care, rural poverty, and rural development.
In his Ph.D. research, Dala investigates the formal and informal care systems in a minority ethnic Tibetan community and a majority Han Chinese community to understand the complexity of welfare situation in rural China with a focus on the elderly. It aims to explore firstly the institutional arrangements of a ‘care diamond’ composed of state, markets, communities and families, and secondly how these four dimensions interact and supplement each other to create a care provision regime for the elderly in these two contexts.
