Back to overview

I studied Health Policy and Management at Erasmus University Rotterdam between 2001 and 2005. Following my study, I became a PhD student at the institute of Health Policy & Management (iBMG) at the Erasmus University and the department of Medical Ethics of Erasmus MC. I did my PhD research on the changing medical professional ethics of surgeons and general practitioners. Currently I am working as an assistant professor in the Health Care Governance department of iBMG.

My main field of interest is the interaction between medical (professional) ethics and health care policy. I am interested in the consequences of regulated competition on the work and ethics of health care professionals. I have studied this by focusing on two professional groups: General Practitioners and surgeons. Moreover, I studied preventive measures of obesity and the role of the Public Health in solving this problem. I am currently involved in a project focusing on the impact of the scientific advices of the Health Council.
