Noortje de Boer is a PhD Candidate at the Department of Public Administration and Sociology (DPAS).
Noortje's research focuses on the street-level effects of transparency by and of governments with a specific interest in the implications for (1) bureaucrat-citizen interactions and (2) bureaucrats’ enforcement behavior. She specializes in experimental methods, survey research and scale development. Her research has been published in, among others, top journals in the field of public administration such as Public Administration Review and Public Administration.

Noortje de Boer is a PhD Candidate at the Department of Public Administration and Sociology (DPAS).

Prior to joining the department, Noortje succesfully completed the Bachelor of Science in International Communication and Media (with honors) from Erasmus University Rotterdam and the two-year Research Master in Public Administration and Organizational Science which is jointly offered by five Dutch universities (i.e. Utrecht University, Tilburg University, Vrije Universiteit Amsterdam and Radboud University Nijmegen and Erasmus University Rotterdam).
Next to her position as a PhD Candidate, she is a member of the NIG PhD Council and was Chair of the PhD Platform at DPAS in 2017-2018.
