Profile
Ward van Zoonen is associate professor Organizational Dynamics in the Digital Society at the Erasmus School of Social and Behavioral Sciences at the Erasmus University. His research focuses on the interplay between technologies and organizing. This includes work on organizational connectivity, virtual work, and platform labor. Ultimately his research is driven by questions about the ways in which technological advances (re)shape the ways in which work is organized and workers communicate and collaborate. Within the organizational dynamics in the digital society group he studies the work conditions and experiences of crowd laborers.
Ward obtained his Ph.D. in Communication Science at the Amsterdam School of Communication Research at the University of Amsterdam. He is also junior visiting Professor at the University of Jyväskylä, Finland. His work has been published in journals across various disciplines including organizational behavior, psychology, communication, and information systems research.
