Ensuring Quality in Cross-border Enforcement: Towards European Principles of Civil Procedure?

The number of transnational disputes between companies, and between consumers and companies, is increasing. As a policy objective, the EU aims to simplify the cross-border enforcement of judgments in civil and commercial matters. However, this is only possible when it is guaranteed that the courts of the EU Member States respect certain minimum requirements of civil procedure, such as the right to be heard. The researchers aim to formulate rules that will contribute to the efficient crossborder enforcement of judgments, while safeguarding the quality of judgments in the EU.
