Clinical practice, such as setting a prognosis and choosing an appropriate treatment for a patient, is becoming increasingly complicated, as a consequence of the large amount of patient information that physicians receive. Risk prediction models can combine all of this information to provide risk estimates for individual patients. Dependency between patient data is erroneously ignored in clinical prediction research. I will develop methods for prediction research with dependent data, leading to better prognostication and treatment decisions.
