Intercultural communication

Starting a new job in a different country can be a bewildering experience, and it may take a while before you feel at home. It is not just the language, it is also the culture. It is also about the Dutch being so Dutch, and how that happened. And yes: even Belgians will benefit from taking this course. As Geert Hofstede already noticed in 2002: hardly anywhere in the world can two neighbouring countries be found that differ more than Belgium and The Netherlands...

This short introductory training of half a day aims at helping internationals to adapt to The Netherlands, and the new work environment at EUR. And if you and your new (Dutch) manager both decide to participate, this training will help your manager as well to understand much better what is (not) being said.

So sign up immediately if:

  •  you are working in an international environment at Erasmus University
  •  you feel not yet completely at home in this new country with great habits
  •  you want to explore how people with different backgrounds can really understand each other
  •  you are willing to share some of your own experiences
  •  you are just curious how this works.
