Leaving a legacy to science

The cortège enters the Aula, led by Rector Magnificus Jantine Schuit.

Leaving a legacy to the Erasmus University Rotterdam Fund enables you to ensure your assets continue to make a social impact even after your death.

Leaving a legacy to the Erasmus University Rotterdam Fund is a special and meaningful way of giving. It allows you to express what matters to you, in the knowledge that your legacy will make a lasting contribution to the future of research and talent development. Bequests play an increasingly important role in supporting Erasmus University Rotterdam and give the university the scope to promote groundbreaking research and nurture young talent. This enables Rotterdam’s academics to contribute even more to solving complex societal challenges. Together, we support the university’s ambitions – both now and in the future.

Now it is no longer about the end of life, but about giving a meaningful start to many young lives.

The Erasmus University Rotterdam Fund has been designated as a ‘Public Benefit Organisation’ (ANBI). This means we are not required to pay inheritance tax on bequests. Consequently, 100% of your bequest goes directly to the Erasmus University Rotterdam Fund. You can find our ANBI information here.

Donating to the future

''Leaving a legacy is a very personal way of giving. That’s why listening is the most important thing when talking to prospective testators,'' says Gwen van Loon, our Senior Relationship Manager for Legacies. ''These are often special encounters, during which you frequently hear someone’s entire life story.''

One thing is clear: anyone who donates to the university is donating to the future. ''Universities have existed for centuries and were founded to educate new generations, so that they can acquire knowledge and skills that benefit society. Supporting the university is therefore a gift to the future. How wonderful it would be if we could contribute to that in your name – whether anonymously or not.''
