6 March: CHC Research group meeting with Pieter de Bruijn

On March 6, 2014, Pieter de Bruijn will present a paper based on his PhD Research Project Engaging Heritage. Constructions of Historical Distance in English and Dutch Educational Resources. In this paper he will compare how museums, archives and memorial centres in England and the Netherlands deal with the history of the Transatlantic Slave Trade in their educational activities and related heritage presentations. De Bruijn studies how these heritage educational resources construct temporal distance or proximity and engagement or detachment through various techniques, and how this relates to the inclusion of multiple perspectives.
