Etienne Augé invited as speaker at the Brave New World conference in Leiden

During Brave New World, 8 & 9 November, the world of culture, philosophy, science, technology and storytelling collides. Brave New World is for people who want to know what ethical and social impact new technologies could have on human life, and we want to discuss this before the innovations are introduced into society. Dr. Etienne Augé will be a speaker at this conference.

Otherwise, we keep lagging behind events, as we already do with innovations like Airbnb or self driving cars like Tesla. These innovations are already widely used by society, but e.g. law or insurances are not up to date. Society is just now realizing what effects Airbnb or self-driving cars can have, both positive and negative.

So, we want to think about and discuss future innovations and their possible impact on society. Will we want to change the way we look if we can design our own body? And will privacy become a luxury?

We will let (inter)national world-class speakers inspire us, let us discuss and most of all help us transform our thinking and better prepare our business or policy making for future innovations. This year we again welcome a range of amazing speakers such as: Sir Lawrence Freedman, Jeanette Winterson, Mark O’Connell and Jessica Barker.
