When children spend too much time on their smartphones or tablets, this endangers their development, endowed professor Peter Nikken (Media & Communication) warns in an article in Volkskrant Magazine.
'First look critically to your own media behavior', Nikken warns. Setting a good example is the key, according to the endowed professor. However, he sees parents use their smartphone themselves extensively. Nikken says parents have to set a good example so they are credible when they communicate rules about the use of screens to their children.
