The V-fund (Veterans Fund) has awarded a subsidy of €4.300 to the international conference "The Stage of War" that takes place on 26-27 March 2020. This conference is the conclusion of the REI program War! Popular Culture and European Heritage of Major Armed Conflicts, led by Maria Grever and Stijn Reijnders.
Other grants come from the national Huizinga Research School, the Amsterdam school for Heritage, Memory and Material Culture (AHM), the Royal Military Academy (KMA ) and Erasmus Trust Fund.
From the large selection, 42 researchers from the Netherlands and abroad were selected for the conference to present their papers on themes, such as: Visual media representation, Battlefield tourism; Online cultural memory; Education & entertainment; Musealizing war; Theorizing popular war representations, Reenacting large-scale violence.
