RECAP | AnchorED Pilot | June 16, 2026 @RDM
On June 16, the first AnchorED pilot took place, focusing on Collective Learning and Innovation.
The session sparked valuable conversations, new connections, and shared insights into both the challenges and opportunities within the Harbour Industrial Complex (HIC).
Key insights
The energy transition is fundamentally a matter of collective action over time. The main barrier is not technology or funding, but the insufficient alignment between behavior, market forces, and policy. This fragmentation leads to diluted ownership and slows down decision-making.
True systemic change only emerges when top-down policy and bottom-up initiatives reinforce one another. At present, the transition is still largely driven by major (often international) energy companies, leaving the average citizen on the sidelines. The transition will truly gain momentum when it becomes simple, accessible, and affordable — a concept that was aptly described during the session as the “HEMA-ization” of the energy transition.
About AnchorED
AnchorED is an initiative by Erasmus University Rotterdam (Erasmus Centre for Energy Transition and Erasmus UPT) and Rotterdam University of Applied Sciences, in collaboration with iTanks.
Within so-called transition arenas, professionals collaborate over a series of six sessions to tackle concrete and complex transition challenges within the HIC.
