Climate change is one of the most pressing challenges we face today. It forces us to rethink the relationship between humans and nature, the future, and, therefore, the past. It raises the question of whether we can afford to teach history solely with a focus on human actions and place nature as a timeless phenomenon outside of history.

At the congress, we will approach this theme from different perspectives and make concrete recommendations for how it can be addressed in the classroom. We will look at ways to approach climate change historically, what the "Anthropocene" means for education and students, and how we can teach history on a scale much larger than the past three millennia. We will also look at how we can comprehensively address humans and their environment in history education and what we can learn from subjects such as geography.

We cordially invite you to participate in this congress and work with us to enrich history education. We hope to see you on Friday, March 17 at Fort Vechten near Utrecht! The conference is in the Dutch language.
