From 24 to 28 September ICOM’s International Committee for Documentation will host the CIDOC 2023 conference in Mexico City, focusing on museum documentation and linked data. Dr. Trilce Navarrete Hernandez (Arts and Culture Studies) is chair of the committee and co-organiser of this conference. She will discuss the current state of museum documentation and its role in the development of infrastructures feeding AI.

On Friday 28 September, Dr. Naomi Oosterman (Arts and Culture Studies) will organise an interactive panel on the illicit trade of cultural objects in Latin America. In this panel, police and heritage professionals together with academics will discuss the current state of affairs in the transnational organisation of the illicit trade in cultural objects, and the role of varying types of documentation in providing assistance in the enforcement of cultural heritage crimes at several moments in the trafficking chain.

The conference will take place from 24 to 28 September at the campus of the National Autonomous University of Mexico (Universidad Nacional Autónoma de México, UNAM). The languages spoken will be English and Spanish.
