Documentary "Kunstroof" & Aftertalk

Q&A with Dr. Naomi Oosterman

It is one of the most bizarre art heists ever: in 2012, four Romanian men steal seven world-famous masterpieces from the Kunsthal in Rotterdam. The artworks are worth millions, but turn out to be worthless in the hands of the inexperienced art thieves. The hybrid film Kunstroof (The Art of Stealing) by director Jorien van Nes reconstructs the events in all their thrilling details, based on police interrogations. What does it mean that these artworks are lost? And what is the true value of art?
