IBCoM students making a real impact in diversity and inclusion

On Monday, the 30th May, the winning team of the Coopr Diversity and Inclusion Challenge visited Coopr’s office in Rotterdam together with the course coordinator of the Communication Management Workshop, Dr. Yijing Wang. The team presented a strategy that they designed to help Coopr improve their diversity and inclusion in the recruitment process as well as in their workplace.

Following the winning team’s advice, Coopr committed to take measures to create an English website (besides the Dutch website), alter their imagery to make it more inviting to a broader audience, and they’re looking into opportunities to create an English-speaking internship position for IBCoM students, amongst other things.

The winning team, called ConsultanZ, consisted of IBCoM students Zoe Albers, Flavia Lorenzin, Nathalie Schroeder, Duong (Ellie) Dao, Hoang Vy Duong. Their coach was prof.dr. Martine van Selm.

The Coopr Diversity and Inclusion Challenge was initiated in collaboration with Coopr for the course Communication Management Workshop, a mandatory course for all second year IBCoM students. Over 12 teams participated in this challenge. Coopr’s founder Jody Koehler, communication manager Renate Heins, and HR manager Roelanne Oosterloo carefully reviewed each team’s work, and concluded that the ConsultanZ team had the most thoroughness of their presentation, from strategy to recommendations. They also liked the fact that this team split their recommendations into short- and long-term recommendations. Further, they pointed out that Coopr can implement the specific suggestions from this team the best, though other teams also shared some very interesting and creative ideas.
