On 16 October, EU Central Asia Monitoring (EUCAM) Fellows visited Erasmus University and participated in the interactive workshop on current issues in media and security.

The workshop took place with the aim of knowledge valorisation and exchange. On behalf of the NWO-supported digital vigilantism project and research team, Rashid shared the preliminary findings and conceptual debates surrounding citizen-led justice manifested through social media, as well as respective media governance in various political environments. EUCAM Fellows and staff members from Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan, Kazakhstan, Ukraine, Greece and the Netherlands had the opportunity to apply these ideas and concepts on cases in their home states.

Hosted by the Centre for European Security Studies in Groningen, the Fellowship programme invites young professionals from civil society and academia in Central Asia. The “Media and Security” workshop provided a unique platform for the exchange of ideas, valorisation of knowledge and collaboration between academics and practitioners in Europe and Central Asia.
