For the redevelopment of the flagship bachelor's program Philosophy of a Specific Discipline, two academic years have been redesigned with integrated online elements without lecture recordings. This choice was made explicitly, granting significant freedom to instructors to develop courses bottom-up, with support from Risbo, CLI and the studio. As with any bottom-up development, there are unforeseen or sometimes even unpredictable complications. Instructors not only have more freedom but also more responsibility.
During this session, we will discuss the tension between freedom and responsibility, and relatedly, between authenticity and uniformity. How do you get and keep everyone on board while providing maximum opportunity for substantive and formal expression?
