CEE master students pitchs ideas to municipality Schiedam

Groep studenten van master CEE

For the second year in a row, 60 students from the Master's in Cultural Economics and Entrepreneurship, invaded the municipality of Schiedam with their creative ideas.

On this Tuesday (January 21st), the students worked on cases for entrepreneurship platform SHOP Schiedam, Schiedam Partners, Stedelijk Museum Schiedam and the ONS building Schiedam. The results were pitched to alderman Marcel R. Bregman, who also presented the prize to the winners. The winners are given the opportunity to actually work out their proposal: to improve the accessibility and visibility of SHOP Schiedam.

The success of the collaboration relies on the perfect match between the municipality of Schiedam and the master CEE, which both deal with pressing issues such as urban development, entrepreneurship, city marketing, and the roles that arts, culture and creativity could play in them.

This event not only leads to concrete recommendations for the city, it is also a very good example of how alumni can contribute to the employability of current students, by bridging between theory and practice. Ellen Loots, Lenia Marques and Anna Mignosa (ESHCC) organised this event with colleagues from the municipality of Schiedam, including Iris Lommerse (alumna from the EUR, 2018-2019 and policy officer in Schiedam).
