Prof. dr. Jacco van Sterkenburg and PhD candidate Palesa Mashigo from the Media and Communication department at ESHCC are proud to announce a MOOC (massive open online course) titled ‘A Guide to Diversifying and Transforming Football Leadership’ which starts on the Coursera platform on 28 March 2023.

The online course emerged from the EU funded project 'Innovating Football Leadership: Inclusion through Policy and Practice' (IFLIPP), which started in 2020. The MOOC aims to understand, address and challenge the underrepresentation of women and minority ethnic groups in European football leadership. A variety of sources and practical tools are made available that may help potential football leaders in their journey on the football hierarchical ladder. The course also looks at the future of football leadership and reflects on required transformations to make football leadership more diverse and inclusive.

International collaboration

Jacco and Palesa did this together with the Fare network (an anti-discrimination network organization within football and project leader of IFLIPP) and a variety of expert speakers from England, Portugal and the Netherlands. RISBO and the EUR Studio supported the educational and recording process.

Anybody interested can participate for free in the MOOC on the Coursera platform. The MOOC can be found here.
