It is with deep sorrow that we share the passing of our student, Youssor Al Hedni, on September 28. Youssor was a student at the History Department of ESHCC. He was enrolled in the Master’s program in Applied History, where his dedication to addressing racial inequality shone through his academic work.
In his bachelor’s thesis, Youssor researched collective memory and identity through murals and graffiti in post-Ba’ath Iraq, while his master’s research focused on experiences of members of the Iraqi diaspora in the Netherlands since the 1990s.
Youssor was a warm, kind, and delightful person, as everyone who knew him will be able to attest. His insight, passion, and sensitivity will be profoundly missed. He will also be remembered for his collegiality and for his generous support of our educational programmes as a student ambassador during open days. We extend our sincere condolences to his family, friends, and fellow students.
