Revised edition of the MOOC serious gaming launched

A revised edition of the Massive Open Online Course (MOOC) on serious gaming is now available on the Coursera platform. Its origins date back to 2016 when this course was the second MOOC launched by Erasmus University.

More than 117.000 people visited the course over the years of which 18.000 enrolled as ‘learners’. The MOOC received an evaluation of 4.5 (out of 5). Still, some parts worked better than others. The revision project enabled the authors Mijke Slot and Jeroen Jansz (both ESHCC) to critically assess the course’s content and to update it with new cases and recent insights.

The MOOC’s didactic features were evaluated by CLI project leader Rachel Ligtvoet and her Risbo colleague Marit Nieuwenhuys, resulting in a better flow in the learner experience, a better match between leaners’ expectations and content and assessments in which learners are no longer dependent on other learners as in the former peer review model.

The investment of the designers and studio staff resulted in a revised edition in which the recent additions merged smoothly with the parts from the original version that were retained.
