dr. A (Arne) van Lienden

Biography

Arne van Lienden is a postdoctoral researcher and lectuter at the Erasmus School of History, Culture and Communication. Arne's research is characterized by using a critical lens on sports and sports media to make sense of broader processes of inclusion and exclusion, primarily along the lines of race/ethnicity, sexuality and gender. In his doctoral research, he focused on representations of race/ethnicity in sports media in Poland. In addition, he was involved in similar research in other European countries, including the Netherlands. He has also conducted research on female football coaches from ethnic minority backgrounds. In his current postdoctoral research position, he conducts research on representations of athletes from the Caribbean part of the Dutch Kingdom.
