The study programme in a nutshell
The pre-master Media Studies is a highly intensive one-year programme, preparing you for one of the specialisations within our master Media Studies: Media & Business, Media & Creative Industries, Media, Digitalisation & Society. The programme focuses on three elements: theory, academic skills, and research skills.
After successful completion of the programme, you get direct access to the Master specialisation. It is good to know that all pre-masters are part of the same Media Studies programme. This means that after successfully completing the pre-master, you are also eligible to get access to another Media Studies master specialisation if you decide to change your focus. Please note that this does not apply to the Dutch-taught programme Media & Journalistiek.
Duration of the programme
The pre-master takes one year and consists of 45 EC. This allows you to adjust to the pace of studying at our university while preparing for your chosen master specialisation.
Teaching language
All pre-master specialisations and courses are taught entirely in English. Exept for the pre-master Media & Journalistiek, in which the tutorials are taught in Dutch*.
- If the pre-master Media & Journalistiek consists of fewer than 10 students, the programme management may decide to merge the Dutch tutorial group with English-speaking groups. The language of instruction in the tutorials will then be English, but students in the pre-master Media & Journalistiek are still allowed to complete assignments in Dutch.
