Bridging the Gap: Supporting Students and Teachers in Quantitative Research Education

CLI Fellowship of Lijie Zheng

The Community for Learning & Innovation (CLI) gives lecturers from Erasmus University Rotterdam (EUR) the opportunity to apply for a fellowship. With this fellowship, they research educational innovation, or carry out an educational project. On this page you can read more about the CLI Fellowship of Lijie Zheng (ESHCC), in which she aims to develop flexible, curriculum-aligned, self-paced Canvas modules focused on quantitative research skills and AI literacy.

Students often struggle with applying quantitative research methods in their thesis, due to fragmented learning, course misalignment, and new challenges from AI tools. Supervisors face similar issues and challenges brought by students' AI use. This project aims to develop flexible, curriculum-aligned, self-paced Canvas modules that can be integrated to relevant courses to help students refresh and connect core quantitative skills, boost AI literacy, clarify responsible AI use, and support teachers with a shared, programme-wide reference for expectations, guidance and AI policy to ensure fair assessments. By promoting collaboration and regular feedback, the module aims to make quantitative research methods more accessible, relevant, and future-proof, which will benefit both students and staff across the programmes and in other educational settings.
