Sustainability competency - Systems thinking

Students visualize how components in complex systems are interconnected and discover how interventions can have feedback effects or unexpected consequences.

This competence is about recognizing relationships within complex systems. Patterns and interactions become visible, clarifying how a change in one area has consequences elsewhere. It involves grasping complexity and understanding interconnections.

Students develop the ability to understand and analyze complex systems at different scales. They learn to identify relationships, interactions, interdependencies, and cascade effects, and to recognize how actions in one part of the system influence other parts.
